2020 Conference Call for Proposals

Help us deliver outstanding education options at the 2020 Housing Central Conference

Conference Call for Proposals Now Open
Will you be part of shaping the outstanding learning opportunities at our 2020 Housing Central Conference? Your conference proposals are how we build a roster of education sessions that are current, relevant and speak to the needs and issues you’re facing now.

BCNPHA is seeking proposals from individuals and organizations interested in presenting one or more education sessions at the 2020 Housing Central Conference. Sessions aim to:

  1. Deliver education to social housing providers;
  2. Facilitate engaging, thought-provoking dialogue on emerging issues in affordable housing; and,
  3. Facilitate partnership development within and across sectors to ensure everyone has access to safe and affordable housing.

Education sessions should have clearly defined learning objectives. We encourage presenters to consider diverse delivery formats outside of traditional lecture style, that allow for ample opportunity for engagement with presenters and the audience.

We always seek to broaden our scope of content to respond to the varied needs of our members and sector. Based on feedback from 2019 session evaluations and our conference survey, we want to place special focus on: building community acceptance, rural/small housing providers, issues facing seniors, addressing historical inequalities – including marginalized voices – and reconciliation with Indigenous communities in the proposal review process.

Sessions that focus on supporting frontline workers, and provide tools and strategies for well-being and mental health have been well received, and we look forward to continuing to feature these themes moving forward.

Many presenters work in our sector, while others are brought in to share their expertise from other fields. We encourage session proposals from across a range of sectors, including non-profits, government, academia and the private sector.
Speakers are compensated for their time through complimentary registration for the day they are presenting. In specific cases BCNPHA may be able to cover fees such as travel and accommodation.

This year’s conference will be held at the Sheraton Vancouver Wall Centre, from Sunday, November 15 to Tuesday, November 17, 2020.

The online proposal form includes guidelines regarding session descriptions, lengths, target audience, format options, presenter maximums, and other important details. Please review and submit the online proposal form by Sunday, March 8, 2020, (12 am PST).
